On 26 November 2011 we had some morning excitement at the northend of Vallecito Res., Bayfield, Colorado between 10:30am thru 11:22am when our chimney rumbled with a fire that reached 3-ft above the chimney cover. Thanks to the Vallecito & Bayfield firefighters that assisted in getting it out! Sweep your chimney once a year when you change the batteries in your smoke detectors! If you have a chimney fire, the fire fighter chief says, "Pour a cup of water over fire in fireplace, close the fireplace door and let the steamy smoke drift upward and help put out the chimney fire while you are waiting for the firefighters to come.
