Hope Hooper & Dick Watmough

Hope Hooper and Dick Watmough were two of the major players in the Runnymede Colony. Hooper was the force behind building the Runnymede Hotel. Watmough owned several businesses and wrote a column for the Harper paper under the name "The Bird of Truth". Watmough died tragically in a stable fire on the eve of his return to England to get married. -- courtesy of Jim Richey & Kansas State Historical Society Posted by Hello
